Quick du’aa for good character

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray for a good character/attitude/behaviour, saying,

O Allah, You have made my outward form beautiful so make my attitude good too.

Narrated by Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh (3/239) and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel (75).

Some people like to read this du’aa when looking at their reflection in the mirror. There are a few people who are scared of reading this du’aa as they said it is from a weak hadith. But I heard from Sheikh Assim Al Hakeem (see video below) that you can read this du’aa whenever as well, not just when looking at the mirror, insha Allah, i.e. you don’t have to look at the mirror to say this du’aa.

What I understand is that this du’aa is, in itself authentic, but not for looking into the mirror. It is a du’aa for any time. So, let’s practise it, insha Allah.

I hope this reminder is as useful for you as it was for me. May Allah make us better Muslims with each passing day. May Allah beautify our characters constantly. Ameen.
